In Beijing and Tokyo where I have respectively spent my childhood and recent teenage years, long before the time near midday where I should have to go to school, books became the fixed point on which my attention and unruly imagination were centered.

The books I have devoured mold my identity as I grow up. “Alice in Quantumland” instilled a palpitating desire to probe the realm of quantum mechanics deep under the ground-level of customary equations, novels by Cecelia Ahern salvaged me from emotional wretch in aftermaths of failure, and “Run with the Wind,” a recent read, rocked my world and is gradually leading me closer to gripping the true meaning of why I climb.

Each month, under the light of my bed lamp, I place books—a renewed stack of novels, old texts, and self-help publications that entertain me for an hour each day before I float into the blissful incognito of dreamscape. Books appear as often in real life as they do in my dreams (ahem, another reason that propels me towards Freudian literature).

In waking hours, though, I allow myself to resemble the antithesis of the physical stillness of reading. I travel on impulsion of wanderlust. And I go to places, far beyond the city, the rural… and like Dorothy, I always find new friends to walk along…

My teammates of the WCT:

Learning and making progress every day! On the wall, and also in the

fields that each of us loves. Lifelong learning is the spirit of WCers.

It will eventually be the way for the progress of human civilization.

Rock climbing allows us to understand the trust, concentration,

rigor, and intimacy entrusted by life. It gives us a sense of team-

         work, encouragement, responsibility and honor.

Rock climbing gives us the fortitude and courage to stand up and

try again in 99% of our failures. It makes us realize that any

success comes from monotonous, continuous, and even lonely

efforts. We are all promoters of rock climbing, leading more people

to experience the beauty of it, to make continuous progress and positive growth, and work together to make our community better.

Shuonan Yu

Captain of WCT

WCT brought rock climbing to BWYA campus, and also brought

BWYA into the field of rock climbing in China.

Outside the school, WCT actively displays and spreads the

spirit and style of BWYA, creates rock climbing exchanges and

interactions between schools, and recommends our student

athletes to Beijing and the national youth climbing team.

In the school, WCT strives to establish and promote the

team spirit of wolves among the student community, and to

cultivate and develop each member's collective sense of honor,

responsibility, courage to accept challenges, perseverance and

mutual support.

As Wolves Rock Climbers enter the university, we will continue to

develop ourselves, help others and serve the society with the spirit of

WCT and rock climbing.

With the support of the principal and PE teachers, Wolves Climbing Team was founded by me on the BWYA campus in 2017. As the initiator and athlete of WCT, I also served as the captain and coach.
In the three years of development, about 20 students from BWYA have joined the WCT. More than 1000 teenagers experienced rock climbing first-hand. And we
won 12 championships, 18 second and third places in the National Youth climbing Competitions and Beijing Middle & High School students' climbing Competitions.

Do it! then know we can!
